About
ares is the continuation of the higan lineage: one emulator, dozens of systems, with accuracy as the first goal. It covers the Nintendo 64, Super Nintendo, NES, Game Boy line, Sega Genesis and Saturn, PlayStation, PC Engine and many more from the same interface.
No games or firmware are included. Some systems, such as the PlayStation and Saturn, need a BIOS dumped from your own console.
- Dozens of systems in one application
- Accuracy-first emulation
- Consistent interface and controller setup across systems
What you need
The emulator contains none of this. It comes from hardware you own and stays on your machine.
ROM or disc dumps of your own games
Dumped from cartridges and discs you own. The PlayStation, Saturn and a few other systems also need a BIOS dumped from your own console.
Setup
- 1
Extract the archive and open ares.
- 2
Choose Load, pick the system, and open a dump of a game you own.
- 3
For systems that need firmware, place the file dumped from your own console where Settings, Firmware indicates.
